Health Statistics

Expected years of life and healthy life at birth, leading causes of death, birth rates or sexually transmitted diseases constitute the core of health statistics.

Death rates for most countries worldwide have continued to decline in the past for their inhabitants as a whole. The other way round, rising death rates indicate wars, genocides, natural or environmental disasters.

This chart shows the statistical traces of the Rwandan Civil War. 1994 the riots culminated in a genocide which killed up to 1 million Rwandans.
