Expected years of life and healthy life at birth, leading causes of death, birth rates or sexually transmitted diseases constitute the core of health statistics.
Death rates for most countries worldwide have continued to decline in the past for their inhabitants as a whole. The other way round, rising death rates indicate wars, genocides, natural or environmental disasters.
